Goodbye Dandruff - The solution: How to get rid of dandruff at home fast and quickly

Goodbye Dandruff... Thank You, Alcantara! How to get rid of dandruff at home fast and quickly

I put my hair and scalp through a lot of stress. From flat-ironing to color to endless amounts of hair product, keeping up with rock-star quality hair can take its toll on my hair and scalp. My biggest issue: dandruff. It’s embarrassing to talk about, but even more embarrassing when I’d try to wear a black shirt and by the middle of the day, my shoulders would be dotted with those awful little flakes. Have you ever been in that very same situation? Have you, like me, tried every product on the market to get some relief… even trying home remedies, and nothing worked? It’s ok. I’ve found hope: Traybell Dandruff Prevention Treatments by Alcantara Cosmetica.

To understand how Traybell dandruff products worked to rid me of dandruff, I first had to understand what dandruff really is. So, what is dandruff?  According to the National Institute of Health’s website (www.nih.gov):

“Seborrheic dermatitis (a known cause of flaky dandruff) is a common, inflammatory skin condition that causes flaky, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas such as the scalp or inside the ear. It can occur with or without reddened skin.
Seborrheic dermatitis is thought to be due to a combination of an over production of skin oil and irritation from a yeast called malessizia. Stress, fatigue, weather extremes, oily skin, infrequent shampoos or skin cleaning, use of lotions that contain alcohol, skin disorders (such as acne), or obesity may increase the risk.”

Basically, dandruff is the flaking or shedding of dead skin cells usually caused by skin oil commonly referred to as sebum, sebaceous secretions, or the byproducts of skin micro-organisms such as the malessizia yeast.

You might be thinking “so great, I now know what it is, but how do I get rid of it?” This is what I did to get rid of my dandruff for good; all thanks to Alcantara Cosmetics:

I started off by cleaning and preparing my scalp first with Traybell Cutaneous Capillary Peeling. It’s a gentle exfoliant that removes all the excess dirt, product build up, dead skin cells, chemicals and other unwanted sources of contamination that can interfere with how the rest of the treatment penetrates the scalp. I should note that Alcantara’s website recommends that the peeling should not be performed more often than every 21 days to avoid over exfoliating the scalp.

After the peeling, I washed my hair with Traybell Dandruff Prevention Shampoo. It has a great, pleasant scent and is very effective in the prevention of all types of dandruff whether oily or dry. It has Anti-Microbial and Anti-Fungal ingredients that regulate and balance the epidermis of the scalp, eliminating and preventing the occurance of dandruff. The key to this part of the treatment was to shampoo and rinse once to remove excess dirt, scaling and oil, then shampoo a second time. This time, leaving the shampoo on the scalp and hair for 5 to 10 minutes before rinsing. I use it 2-4 times per week as needed, but it can also be used as a daily shampoo.

Next, I conditioned my hair with Traybell Regulator Hair Mask. This stuff is magic! All I had to do was apply a small amount from root to ends while my hair was still damp, leave it on for about 5-10 minutes and rinse.  It works so well because it contains astringent and absorbent clays that actually help to control oily and sebaceous secretions. The antiseptic ingredients in the Hair Mask prevent the development of micro-organisms (remember that pesky malessizia yeast?) as it protects and conditions the hair. The Regulator Hair Mask leaves my hair soft, shiny, and manageable every time!

After shampoo and conditioner, I towel dried my hair and applied the Treybell Dandruff Prevention Tonic directly to my scalp, massaging it gently for about 5 minutes.  It is a leave-in treatment that works by regulating and balancing the epidermis of the scalp, thus preventing flaking. Its active ingredient, “Piroctone Olamine”, is one of the most effective dandruff treatments known because of its anti-microbial, anti-fungal, anti-mycotic and anti-oxidant effects. You want to be sure to use the Tonic about 3-5 times per week for the first 2 to 3 weeks. After that, I’ve learned that I can use it about once or twice a week as a maintenance treatment, and I am dandruff free!

It’s clear to me that Alcantara Cosmetics means it when they say “We Love Your Hair.” So, try them out. I guarantee that you and your hair will love them, too!
